Expanding Horizon

10th - 12th

Since 1995, Expanding Horizons Internships (EHI) has provided first-generation, college-bound high school students in the Los Angeles area with an intensive experience of skill development and personal growth that prepares them for college, career, and civic life. The EHI program begins with interactive seminars in the spring and concludes with a paid summer internship at a prestigious law firm, corporation, government agency, or non-profit organization.

Youth Summer Internship Program

9th - 12th

Join LACMA’s Youth Summer Internship Program! Interns will be part of a 5 week paid training program at LACMA and South Los Angeles focusing on art and social change. This program is only open to students who live in South LA.

Camp CHLA

9th - 10th 

Want to be a healthcare professional? Camp CHLA provides students with the chance to explore healthcare careers. Shadow health care professionals, participate in labs and gain valuable skills, and get a firsthand look at health care with this amazing opportunity. Once they receive 400 applications, the application will be closed.

Samuels Family Latino and African American High School Internship Program (LA-HIP)

11th

Samuel Family Latino and African American High School Internship program provides students that have a genuine interest in STEM with the opportunity to learn hands on laboratory based research and support their quest to becoming scientists or physicians in their futures.

Short-Term Research Experience for Underrepresented Persons (STEP-UP)

11th - 12th

The STEP-UP Program provides hands-on summer research experience for high school and undergraduate students interested in exploring research careers. Students are assigned to a nearby college after they are accepted into the program. The CC serves as the STEP-UP student’s primary contact for any administrative or programmatic needs during the summer research experience.

Eve and Gene Black Summer Medical Career

9th - 10th 

The Eve and Gene Black Summer Medical Career Program encourages high school students to choose careers in the health sector. Each student that successfully completes their internship AND submits the Required Exit Essay, on time, is entered into a drawing for ONE $500 scholarship

If a financial hardship exits, every selected student may apply for a weekly stipend to help defray any costs associated with their participation, such as transportation or the cost of possible uniform.

Project STRIDE

11th

STRIDE provides high school juniors with exposure to different methodologies and principles of biomedical and clinical research. Students receive a mentor and work on a research project of their interest. â€‹

Kaiser Permanente Summer Youth Employment Program

11th - 12th

Kaiser Permanente's Summer Youth Employment Program provides underserved or at-risk high school students with supportive and meaningful employment experiences in the health care field.  Also known as  L.A.U.N.C.H. (Learn About Unlimited New Careers in Healthcare), participants attend educational sessions and motivational workshops that introduce them to the possibilities of pursuing a career in health care

LA Conservation Corps Clean and Green

9th - 12th 

LA Conservation Corps and its crews, regularly remove overgrown vegetation, garbage, and bulky items that are often dumped within alleys. Crew supervisors strive to cultivate a positive work ethic in the youth that trains them to be responsible and dedicated workers, as they mentor them to help them to see the value of staying in school, preparing for college and giving back to their communities.

Young Civic Leaders Program

9th - 12th

The Young Civic Leaders Program (YCLP) is a leadership development program created by United Way of Greater Los Angeles to give LAUSD high school students the opportunity to speak out on the education issues that affect their communities and schools.

Mayor's Youth Council

9th - 12th

The Mayor's Youth Council is a one year fellowship for high school students to hone their leadership skills in the areas of political and civil engagement and community volunteerism. Students are apart of monthly cohort meetings, create service projects, and gain professional development skills.

Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Program

10th - 11th 

The CLYLP Los Angeles Institute inspires and motivates students from Southern California  to become future leaders through public service.  Open to 50 students from Los Angeles County, the three-day institute allows participants to connect with education, business, political and community leaders and receive encouragement in their pursuit of post-secondary educational opportunities. Housing, meals and program materials are provided at no cost to the participants or their families.

16+

The Ignite LA Student Science Awards is an innovative program that aims to stimulate curiosity and interest in science and technology through participation in a fully-funded, scientific research expedition during the summer.

The Intern Project

The Intern Project provides deserving LA public high school juniors and seniors the chance to gain an amazing paid internship experience and work in different fields such as media, entertainment, technology, healthcare and design.

The Latina Public Service Academy

11th - 12th

The program, designed specifically for young Latina women, aims to ensure that women are represented fairly and equally in the workforce. Through leadership and empowerment workshops, symposiums, and partnerships, we equip Latinas to embrace their identity and represent the community in all industries, beginning with Public Service
